Its a massive step up from “Draw Breath” and features new drummer Callum, who's hard hitting style has given Sekrement a real bounce! Check the Lyrics out here!

Show the band some love and give the song a pre-save, it really helps push the release along and helps the band appeal to the Spotify Editorial team!

“Ribs Heal (Death Doesn’t), the second single from Torbay Grungecore combo Sekrement, creeps up on you, looms over you and stands in front of you with the light-blocking weightiness of an eerie eclipse.”

About “Ribs Heal (Death Doesn’t)”

This epic song is built around the idea that not all damage exists on the surface, and not all of it leaves.

The track draws a line between physical harm and psychological aftermath. Bruises fade, bones reset, and the body does what it’s supposed to do. But the things said in those moments, accusations, threats, the way someone can twist care into control, don’t follow the same rules. They stay, repeating, reshaping how you see yourself long after everything else is supposed to be “over.”

At its core, the song explores cycles of manipulation and blame. It reflects a dynamic where apologies are conditional, where harm is minimised, and where responsibility is constantly redirected until the victim is recast as the problem. Being called a liar, being told you’re ungrateful, being made to feel like your reaction is the issue rather than the cause; those ideas run through every line.

“Ribs Heal (Death Doesn’t)” isn’t just about conflict between two people, but about what that conflict turns you into. Over time, repetition erodes identity. Labels stick. You start to internalise what’s been thrown at you - liar, dog, waste - until it becomes harder to separate your own voice from theirs. The song sits in that space, where anger, guilt, and self-doubt all collapse into each other.

The title acts as the thesis: some damage is temporary, but some consequences are absolute. Whether that “death” is literal or symbolic, it represents a point of no return: the moment where something in you doesn’t come back the same.

The title also carries a real-world weight. It’s partly a tribute to Dave Knox’s ribs, which sacrificed themselves ahead of a show we were playing with No Totality.

Debut Single Out Now!

Sekrement's debut single “Draw Breath” was recorded by R&K Systems at our studio in Ottery St Mary earlier in the summer of 2025 and was released across all streaming platforms on 31st October 25 for Halloween. Listen Here

The song was mixed and mastered for release by Award-Winning Producer Pete Marten, who has worked on the Kabins, Leonard & The Zombies, Bloodhound, Absent Minds and Vanity Proj3ct.

We absolutely loved recording this song and it's ended up turning out really heavy!

It will be closely followed by 2 more tracks, which are due for recording with us over the next few months.
